Invitation from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and Green Travel Bridge to attend International Congress

The green travel bridge initiative and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) are honored to invite you to the:

                           International Congress

green travel bridge - Connecting Sustainable Tourism

                         Wednesday, March 9, 2011

                               2:30 pm - 5:00 pm

                                  Room Madrid

Public and private sector organizations have made great efforts to incorporate sustainability into their operations and philosophies. While commendable from an "it's the right thing to do" perspective, it is imperative these businesses also see positive ROI. Therefore, it is essential these businesses, which have embraced sustainability, find cost-effective and efficient distribution channels to target consumers.

The green travel bridge is an organization taking on this challenge. The green travel bridge is a strategic development partnership between the Federal Association of Independent Travel Organizations (asr) and the Agency for International Cooperation (giz) in cooperation with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP).

The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is a global initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism efforts around the world. The GSTC works to expand understanding of and access to sustainable tourism practices; helps identify and generate markets for sustainable tourism; educates about and advocates for a set of universal principles, as defined by the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria. The Criteria, a set of voluntary principles that provide a framework for the sustainability of tourism businesses across the globe, is the cornerstone of our initiative.

Below is a primary agenda. It would be appreciated if you would RSVP by March 7, 2011 to: huesken@asr-berlin.de

Sincerely,

Stephan Busch, Director, gtb and Erika Harms, Executive Director, GSTC
